What is NOT a component of a control system?

The essential components of a control system usually include the comparator, which evaluates the difference between the desired setpoint and the actual process variable; the feedback mechanism, which provides information about the system's output to influence input accordingly; and the effector, which implements the necessary changes to the system based on the controller's decisions.

In this case, the effector is indeed part of the control mechanism as it acts on the control signal determined by the controller. Therefore, it is more accurate to say that while the controller itself is integral to the functioning of a control system, it would be incorrect to designate it as 'NOT a component.'
